Samut Prakan City continues to harden our last line of defense with the signing of former Japanese national team member Tatsuya Sakai as part of the "Sea Fang’s" foreign quota!
On January 31st, Samut Prakan City head coach Masatada Ishii introduced the defender from Montedio Yamagata of Japan’s J2 League as the "Sea Fang" squad’s seventh player acquisition in the build-up to Toyota Thai League 2020 competition.
Tatsuya Sakai is known for playing the centre-half position and has gained experience playing for the likes of renowned J.League teams Sagan Tosu, Matsumoto Yamaga, V-Varen Nagasaki, Oita Trinita, and Montedio Yamagata, while rising to fame on the national team that competed in the 2014 Kirin Cup.
Sakai shared his feelings about transferring to the "Sea Fang" squad saying "I am very happy and excited with the move to join Samut Prakan City and work with one of Japan's best football coaches Masatada Ishii. It’s all a new challenge for me; in addition to playing in the Thai League where I hope to contribute my experience and help make this Samut Prakan City team stronger."
